There is a very useful tool that can be used to help identify the best ways to increase commuter cycling in and around Worcester.
See www.pct.bike/m/?r=hereford-and-worcester for Worcester.
For instance, there is little cycling activity between the city centre and Nunnery Wood area – not surprising when you consider that the main route is up London Road. I regularly cycle up and down this congested and hilly road, but I can fully understand why many others do not. The obvious solution here would be a cycle path through Perrywood.
The cycle tool can show where the increases in cycling are likely to be, under different scenarios. One benefit Worcester has is that we have a major e-bike company, GTECH, based here. Want to cycle, but don’t like the hills, then an electric bike is the answer. If we can work with GTECH, say by offering an e-bike hire scheme, then we can really boost cycling rates.
